Me
Derek Rishmawy
I'm the Director of College and Young Adult ministries at Trinity United Presbyterian Church. (Think non-ordained college pastor). I'm the husband of a very pretty lady named McKenna. I got my B.A. in Philosophy at UCI and my M.A. in Theological Studies (Biblical Studies) at APU. I love Jesus and more importantly Jesus loves me. Throw in too many books, coffee, craft beer, loud music and a picture starts to emerge. Also, sometimes Christ and Pop Culture lets me say things on their site.

Front page of the Gospel Coalition! Moving up in the blogging world, Derek!
Ha! More proof God can even speak through jackasses.
Mr. Rishmawy I want to thank you for this article. I have, at least since my salvation, been baffled at our surprise and indignation at (fill in the blank) national or international tragedy/catastrophe. Heinous treatment of each other has been a constant, and will be a constant, in our history. I especially appreciate your reference to the human delusion that we can “educate” or “enlighten” our way out of the mess in which we find ourselves.
Andy,
Thanks a lot for stopping by to comment on the blog. I’m glad the article spoke to you. Human evil is still a mystery to me at times–the Gospel begins to shed light, and more importantly, give hope for it.
Blessings,
Derek
